Looking after the communities our employees and consumers live in is the right thing to do and we value the deeper connections it helps us build with them.
Our community investment program aims to enhance the social and economic wellbeing of the communities where we live and work. The heart of our approach involves developing innovative programs and partnerships with clear aims and meaningful outcomes.
Flood Relief
As Queensland, and now Victoria and NSW battle devastating floods, Pacific Brands is supporting relief agencies and the communities affected with major supplies of materials and manpower. Part of this effort includes donations of about 200,000 items of basic essentials such as baby clothing, underwear, socks, shoes, overalls and workwear, beds, bedding and towels. Pacific Brands is working closely with the Red Cross and the Salvation Army. We would like to acknowledge our transport partners Toll, Deluxe, IPEC, TLS and Linfox who have all generously donated transport services to ensure that all the products are distributed as fast as possible to where they are needed.
Our thoughts are with the flood victims and their families and the wider communities as they rebuild.
Black Saturday Bushfires
The stand out initiative for 2009 was our response to the devastating Black Saturday bushfires.
As the news unfolded, Pacific Brands implemented an emergency response that assisted those affected by the tragedy.
Our businesses pooled together to collectively donate more than $500,000 worth of goods to those affected by the fires, including underwear, socks, shoes, clothing, sleepwear, workwear, mattresses, bedding, pillows and bikes. We also provided work boots and protective clothing to fire fighters and emergency services.
To assist with the distribution of donated product, we formed a partnership with The Salvation Army and worked closely with our freight suppliers. We also worked with our major retail customers to ensure stock was continually available in affected areas.
We are extremely proud of our employees who showed support in many ways, including:
- The donation of more than $50,000 to the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal through a designated salary sacrifice program.
- Participating in business fundraising activities that raised another $50,000 for the appeal.
- Volunteering their time at various relief and drop off centres throughout Victoria.
- Responding to the call from the Red Cross to donate blood.
We will continue to support those affected by the bushfire tragedy wherever we can in the long-term as lives and homes are rebuilt.

London Benchmarking Group Australia (LBG)
Pacific Brands has joined other leading Australian companies in measuring their community investment.
The London Benchmarking Group Australia (LBG) is a coalition of companies committed to robust, systematic and comprehensive measurement, management, and reporting of their corporate community contributions. An affiliate of LBG International, it was launched in Australia in August 2005.
The LBG model was developed over 10 years ago by six leading companies in the UK who wanted to be able to better account for and benchmark their community contributions. It allows companies to determine how effective their investments are, and compare their performance with their corporate peers based on a consistent standard.
The data gathered by the application of the LBG model allows companies and managers responsible for community investment to benchmark:
